And for local speciality towns, I'd go first.Morpeth, Morpeth,

Morpeth is a suburb of Maitland in the Hunter region of New South Wales. It is located on the southern bank of the Hunter River, on the boundary between the city of Maitland and the Port Stephens Council. The main population centre, with almost all of its residents living in the suburb, is the historic town of Morpeth, which takes its name from Morpeth, Northumberland Morpeth, Northumberland, a town near the banks of the River Tyne in England.
The town of Morpeth was originally created by the private initiative of Edward Charles Close, who selected 1,000 hectares of land and developed it as a river port from 1831 to 1841. The Lord Lieutenant built his own house on the land, known as Closebourne, a two-storey Georgian house built of sandstone, which became an Anglican residence from 1848 to 1912, and eventually the nucleus of St John's Seminary, Morpeth Road.
Riverport grew steadily throughout the 1830s; St James's Church in Tank Street was built between 1837 and 1840. It was partly designed by John Horbury Hunt and is now on the local authority's heritage list. One of the great merchants of the time was James Taylor, who built a debenture merchant's shop near the bridge around 1850, which is now on the Heritage List. The town continued to expand. The Morpeth Law Courts were built in Greek Revival style around 1861; a police station followed in 1879, and the Great Northern Railway, built in 1857, bypassed Morpeth, enabling Newcastle to develop as a regional port. Morpeth became less important commercially, but as a town with its own history and heritage, it has survived. With its many historic buildings and riverside setting, the town is now a tourist destination, with many arts and crafts shops and speciality confectioners, ginger beer and nut shops lining the high street...and the annual vintage car carnival, Morpeth Motorama, in early March is a real treat.
