Itinerary
Day 1
Australia (Sydney or Melbourne) / Santiago, Chile / Buenos Aires, Argentina
Please meet at Sydney International Airport in the morning for the direct flight from Sydney to Santiago, Chile (approximately 13 hours). Arrive at noon local time on the same day due to jet lag, then transfer to Buenos Aires, arrive in the evening and transfer to a 5-star hotel, enjoy authentic Argentine barbecue for dinner. (D)
Day 2
Buenos Aires / La Boca / Tango Dinner SHOW
After breakfast at the hotel, we will take a coach to visit Boca, the birthplace of Tango and Maradonna, and the traditional riverfront area of Madero, Puerto Rico. Free time for shopping, visit the Boca Stadium and after lunch, visit the aristocratic tombs where the mother of Argentina, Madame Perón, is buried. Visit the Women's Bridge, Chinese Street and so on. Return to the hotel and enjoy a traditional Argentine Tango dinner, overnight as above (B.L.D).
Day 3
Buenos Aires to Argentina and Little Switzerland: San Carlos. SAN CARLOS DE BARILOCHE
After breakfast at the hotel, we will take an inland flight from Buenos Aires to Bariloche. After picking up the plane, we will visit some of the most famous sights in South America - Little Switzerland, such as Cerro Campanario (Campanario), which has been ranked as the eighth best place in the world by National Geographic Magazine. After lunch, your guide will introduce the town's human history, and you will also enjoy the beautiful scenery of Lake Nahuel Huapi, Lake Moreno, Lake Lopez, and Chapel Hill. Walk through the Laurau Forest Trail and look for the impressive picture perfect view from one of the lookouts. After dinner, transfer back to the 4-star hotel. (B.D)
Day 4
Little Switzerland scenic boat trip, Bariloche cable car trip
After breakfast at the hotel, take a cruise from LAKE NAHUEL HUAPI to PUERTO BLEST, where you can also explore the unique natural beauty of the area on foot and see Los Cantaros waterfalls. Your local guide will explain the unique attractions and historical background of the area, while you can admire the majestic cypress and coihue trees that grow in this tropical rainforest climate. Enjoy this relaxing family boat trip, walk through the natural wonders of PUERTO BLEST and visit Bariloche in this relaxed atmosphere! In the afternoon take a scenic cable car ride, dinner and rest at the same hotel (B.L.D).
Day 5
Cruise through the spectacular lakes of Patagonia, cross the Argentine-Chilean border and arrive in Puerto Varas, Chile, in the evening.
A unique journey through the Andes, crossing three beautiful lakes connected by four land sections, from San Carlos de Bariloche in Argentina to Hualla in Chile. Discover the beauty of the mountain landscapes and travel through the most colourful regions of Patagonia!
After breakfast at the hotel, at 8:30 am, take a bus from Bariloche office to Porto Paolo via Lake Nahuelpuy. On the way from Bariloche to Porto Paolo, you will marvel at the distinctive Swiss architecture of the region. Beautiful gardens and flowers add colour to the scenery along the way, all the way to Portopanuelo. Portopanuelo - Liste, we will sail from Portopanuelo to Porto Basso on board the “Granvília” across Lake Nahuelpuy. You will enjoy the magnificent scenery, the green tones of the forests, the low-flying birds and learn more about the fascinating history of the destination.
Brest - Ferris. Arrival in Brest harbour. We will take a bus along the Friars River to Porto Alegre and then take the vessel “Victoria South” across Lake Friars. In this part of the lake we will enjoy a beautiful view of the Tronador Mountains. After a short cruise, we will arrive at the port of Frias, where we will complete the necessary formalities at the border between Argentina and Chile. We will take a bus to Peyura, which offers beautiful views of the Andes. Peyura-Petohue, we will sail to Petohue and cross Lake Todos Olsen. If the weather permits, we will also have an extraordinary view of Osoro, the Punta Guido Volcano and the Tronador Mountains. 20:00 pm we will arrive at our hotel in Puerto Varla, Chile. (B.D)
*If for any reason the cruise is suspended or cancelled, we will use a bus to travel approximately 5 hours to Puerto Montt, Chile.
Day 6
Climbing Mount Fuji (Osorno Volcano), Petrovi River Falls
After breakfast at the hotel, depart by coach to begin your tour of the Osorno Volcano next to Lake Yanquivir. The unique landscape featuring Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes will accompany you until you reach Ensenada, where we start climbing the Osorno Ski and Mountain Centre. Enjoy the unique view of the glaciers on the summit of the Calbuco volcano, Lake Yankivet and the Pacific Ocean. Take the cable car to Primavera station at 1450 metres above sea level or Glaciar station at 1750 metres above sea level. Next, travel to Petrovi in the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, enjoying the landscapes and breathtaking views of Osorno and the Calbuco volcano until you reach Petrovi. There, you can stroll around the evergreen forest, the Osorno Volcano and the beautiful turquoise-coloured Petrohué River. You will visit one of Chile's most fantastic attractions, the Petrohué River Falls, where the river flows through a mass of solidified lava. Accommodation as above (B.L.D)
Day 7
Llanquihue Volcanic Lake, German Village. Embarkation in Puerto Montt, Chile (Polar Explorer Magellan Explorer)
After breakfast at the hotel, take a coach along the Ranquihue Volcanic Lake to visit the German village of Frutillar, influenced by the German immigrants in the 19th century, with its typical German wooden buildings, colonial museums, beautiful lake and volcanic backdrops, which is an important attraction to show the German style in southern Chile. Lunch with German pork knuckle. After lunch, transfer to the pier and board the Polar Explorer Magellan Explorer for a 9-day voyage through Chile's glacial canyons, with 8 consecutive nights on board. (B.L.D)

Day 8
Puyuhuapi Channel
We continue our voyage south to Puerto Poação and the Pajohuapi area of the Asen region. While sailing and exploring this area, we will be able to see the magnificent scenery of the many canyons, islands and waterways. We hope to visit Puerto Chines, Puerto Peyuhuapi or Magdalena Island and have the opportunity to see dolphins, whales, cormorants, sea lions and river otters. (B.L.D)
Day 9
San Rafael National Park
Today, the boat arrived in the Jonos Islands. Whilst heading towards the Strait of Moraleda, the ship navigates around the area of the San Rafael National Park (a biosphere reserve), weather permitting. This park is the main gateway to the Patagonian ice sheet in northern Chile. We will also explore the surrounding canyons, waterways, islands and bays. (B.L.D)
Day 10
Day trip to Gulf of Penas, Penas Bay
As we sailed south, we travelled through Ponsa Bay, enjoying beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The expedition team introduced us to the indigenous people of these southern regions, early Spanish colonisers and famous explorers such as Charles Darwin, Fitzroy and Alberto de Agostini, as well as learning about the biodiversity of the region through displays on the local marine flora and fauna. Day 11
Caleta Tortel and Messier Channel
If weather permits, plan a morning visit to Tortel Harbour or the surrounding area. Located between the mouth of the Baker River and a small bay in the Baker Strait, Puerto Tortel is a village of mostly elevated houses built in the typical Chihuatl style for several kilometres along the coastline. Wooden walkways made of Guaytecas cypress connect the houses, giving the village its distinctive appearance and unique culture.
We continue sailing south to the Strait of Merthyr and cross the spectacular 18 metre wide (59 ft) narrow section of the English Channel in order to view the glaciers of the Patagonian Ice Sheet at the southern end. Outside of Antarctica, some of the largest glaciers in the Southern Hemisphere are found here. (B.L.D)
Day 12
Bernardo O'Higgins National Park
We travel by rubber boat to the Amarillo Glacier area of the Bernardo O'Higgins National Park or to the glaciers around the Golfo del Pilar. We immerse ourselves in the ice-blue beauty of the glaciers and travel between sea voyages and ice blocks to discover what is part of Chile's natural charm. As we travel between snow-capped peaks to get a closer look at the glaciers and their gorgeous, rugged textures, we may see dolphins swimming in the distance, soaring quails or vultures, and otters. Day 13
Day at Sea, Strait of Magellan and Tierra del FuegoDay at Sea, Strait of Magellan and Tierra del Fuego
As we sailed south along the Strait of Magellan, we explored the waters of the strait that extends from Tierra del Fuego. We sailed along the remote shores of the Francisco Coloane Marine Park, a protected area in the southern hemisphere where whales feed. If we are lucky, we may see humpback whales or sei whales jumping out of the water in the distance. We may also see dolphins, sea lions, seals, penguins, albatrosses and terns. (B.L.D)
Day 14
Beagle Channel & Garibaldi Fjord
The Beagle Channel is a dramatic narrow channel in the Tierra del Fuego archipelago, an area originally named after the fires that broke out in the native settlements there. Separating Chile from Argentina, this passage showcases the ice-covered landscape along the snow-covered Darwin Mountains. We will be sailing along the Glacier Trail where Hollanda, Italy, France, Germany and ...... Romanche Glacier Expeditions are planning to explore the Garibaldi Gap. (B.L.D)
Day 15
Disembarkation Ushuaia Argentina, Disembarkation, Tierra del Fuego National Park, World's End
After breakfast on board, you will arrive in Ussia in the morning and disembark the Magellan Explorer. *Sailing on different departure dates the itinerary may be in reverse order starting in Ustia and ending in Porto Montt. Transfer to Tierra del Fuego National Park by coach. Take a traditional steam train to see the magnificent scenery of Tierra del Fuego, the largest island in Latin America, the southernmost city in South America, dotted with lakes and well preserved flora and fauna, with excellent varieties of sheep and numerous hares, and blue whales in the Beagle Channel on the south side of the island. It is more than 1,000 kilometres from the Antarctic. Stay at a 4-star hotel in the city. Dinner at the hotel (B.D).
Day 16
Flights to Santiago, Chile
After breakfast at hotel, transfer to airport for flight to Buenos Aires and in-airport transfer to Santiago, Chile, Chinese seafood dinner and check-in to 5-star hotel in the city (B.D).
Day 17
San Diego City Tour
After breakfast, we will have a city tour of Santiago: see the colonial buildings of the Presidential Palace of La Moneda, the Courthouse, the Cathedral and the Central Plaza of Santiago. Continue to Santa Lucia, the “Mountain of Lovers”, to visit the old fortress built by Chile's first colonial governor, Pedro Valdevia, which reveals the story of the colonial conquests. Lunch at the seafood market at your own expense, followed by a ride up to Our Lady's Hill to see the statue of Our Lady, built in 1908 and standing majestically at the top of the hill. The statue, cast in France, is 14 metres high, weighs 36 tonnes and is the main landmark of Santiago, overlooking the vibrant city, overnight at the same hotel. (B.D)
Day 18
