Yamba is a small town at the mouth of the Clarence River in northern New South Wales. The first European to visit the area was Matthew Flinders<\/span>Matthew Flinders<\/span><\/a>)<\/span><\/span>He stayed in Yamba Bay for six days in July 1799.<\/span> Hoping to find a port of Eden that could be developed, the fleet sailed down the Clarence River hoping to reach the river's estuary, but was blocked by a rugged headland.
